On a sunny Saturday morning at the end of April our in-house dressage championships, known as the Harold Newton Trophy, returned after a two-year break.
It was an early start for the volunteers preparing our grass kept ponies to make sure they were in a gleaming competition ready condition for their riders. As well as the stalwart competition ponies, Taffy, Ria, Romeo and Moss, it was lovely to see Shannon and Spice making their Harold Newton debuts.
The riders qualified to take part through a virtual dressage championship held in March judged by a British Dressage accredited judge viathe on-line dressage platform E-Riders. The practise the riders and their Coaches had been doing since March showed in the quality of the dressage tests ridden which attracted positive comments from the competition judge, National RDA Dressage Lead, Sarah-Jane Prew.
We are hopefully that some of the riders will be able to go forward to represent Epsom RDA at the RDA South East Regional Dressage Championships to be held at Plumpton College near Brighton at the end of May.
